Topology of Record
Topology of Record is Potenza's term for the authoritative, maintained map of an OT network: assets, VLANs, zones, traffic flows, and remote paths, kept current through change control. It is the artifact every later decision depends on, from segmentation design to incident response.
A topology assessment produces the first version. Keeping it of record, so that it still describes the plant a year later, is a separate discipline: changes made during shutdowns and vendor visits are recorded against it, and periodic verification catches drift.
The term distinguishes a living document from the commissioning drawings most plants have, which describe the network as it was designed rather than as it runs.
Why it matters in cement, mining, and aggregates
It is the second control in the Cement & Mining OT Baseline. Mining sites add the inter-site backhaul to it; aggregates fleets keep a one-page version per plant. In every case it is what a Potenza engineer has open when the plant calls at 3 a.m.
